JAIPUR: The agitation of nurses under the aegis of National Rural Health Mission continued for the second day on Thursday causing problems for patients coming to the government-run hospitals especially in the rural areas.
Contractual nurses under the Rajasthan Sanyukt Sanvida Nurses Sangarsh Samiti (RSSNSS) staged a dharna outside the SMS medical college for their demands. RSSNSS state president Devaram Choudhary said, "The talks with the government officials were not held today. We will be on an indefinite strike till our demands are met."
The nurses on contract basis are demanding regularization of their posts. They claimed that nurses under NRHM across the state boycotted work and staged protest outside the district hospitals and other healthcare centres of the health department across the state. They are demanding recruitment on the basis of Jodhpur bench of Rajasthan high court orders. Since, it was a weekly immunization day on Thursday, the RSSNSS claimed that they boycotted work which affected the immunization day badly.
