- IMA also requested the same may be created by TNAI in their journal
- IMA decided to felicitate nurses in their forums and requested the same to TNAI, "this will help both nurses and doctors to know and honour health professionals who have excelled in their field" as mentioned by Dr. K K Aggarwal, Honorary Secretary General , IMA
- Dr. Arun Gupta, President, Delhi Medical Council, declared to put forward a request to Delhi government for nominations of nurses working in private sector also in the awards sponsored by Delhi State Government along with doctors. He mentioned that there is a large number of nurses who work in private sector but are never recognized for their services.
- Mrs. Rathi Balachandran, ADG, Nursing MoHFW unfolded the theme of this years International Nurses Day:"NURSES:A FORCE FOR CHANGE:IMPROVING HEALTH SYSTEM RESILIENCE". She taled about five types of resilience that nurses require personal as well as professional resilience to be successful health professionals
- 10 senior nursing professionals were felicitated on this occasion by awarding them with citations
These were some of the major points discussed along with scientific session on Doctor:Nurses Relationship and Panel discussion on New born Care as well as Welcome the girl child (Govt. initiative of Beti Bachao Andolan).
It was indeed a wonderful experience to see nurses being felicitated by Medical fraternity and also to see both the fraternity at the same platform. This can be seen as a step ahead by both the associations to fill the gap between nurses and doctors in rendering best possible care to the patients. The delegates were assured that more such conferences and meeting will be organised in future to bring nurses and doctors to a single platform.
The video documentation of this meeting is available at the official site of IMA, those interested may visit their site for further information.
I would request my fellow nursing collegues to come forward and start writing papers and publish them through this platform that IMA has opened up for all nurses around India.
Hope this brief of the meeting finds useful to all of you.........
Thanks you
Regards
Deepti Damodaran
