Nursing students' agitation continues in Cuttack

 | TNN |

Cuttack: Efforts of the high level team comprising officials of State Nursing Directorate and health department to resolve the ceasework agitation of students of School of Nursing at SCB Medical College failed to yield desired results on Thursday.

The team visited SCB campus and convened a meeting at the superintendent office. Senior officials of State Nursing Directorate, health department officials and officials of SCB Medical College participated in the meeting and tried their best to convince the agitators to call off their stike, but in vain. Meanwhile, the internal committee formed to probe into the allegations levelled by agitating students against principal of the Nursing School has submitted its report.

"We have forwarded the report submitted by internal committee to state government. The government will take appropriate action in the matter, "said superintendent of SCB, Pratap Rath. Rath refused to divulge details of the report.

Meanwhile, the students, who are protesting against principal of their college for allegedly ill treating a fellow student since Tuesday, have threatened to intensify their stir. "If authorities fail to act against the principal then we will intensify our agitation, "said a student Subhadra Murmu. The students have alleged that principal of the institution had been ill treating the students for last few months. And on May 7 she made casteist remarks against a fellow student and slapped her for not tying her hair properly.
