The Heath Minister of Thiruvananthapuram V S Sivakumar said the
government will soon create an expert committee to look into the
problems and issues confronted by nurses and nursing students in
government hospitals around the state.
At the nurses’ day celebration inauguration on Tuesday, he said, the
committee will be required to submit its report in a month’s time and
government will pledge action to improve nursing care services in the
state.
Steps will be engaged to lessen the work load of government hospital
nurses, the minister assured. The government plans to revise nurse’s
shift of schedule.
Nurses appointments in the public state service will be fast tracked so vacancies will be filled without further delay.
He added government decided to change the current male nurse uniform in government hospitals.
And on the said occasion, the minister awarded the best nurses in the state.
Soja Baby, head nurse at Kanjirappally Gen. Hosp. was given the
health service wing award. K Santhakumari of Community Health Center,
Thekkumbhagam, Kollam was awarded public health wing award. Lastly M
Geetha, head nurse at Kozhikode Medical College Hospital was given the
award in the medical education service.
