AIPUR:
Reeling under the shortage of doctors until now, people in rural areas
are expected to get some relief from nursing students. All the nursing
colleges in the state will adopt one village each to turn it into a
"model health village".
The health department in cooperation
with Rajasthan Nursing Council has prepared a plan to involve nursing
students in improving healthcare facilities in rural areas. The nursing
institutes in state will adopt equal number of villages.
There
are 392 nursing institutes, including 59 government and 333 private
nursing institutes in the state. Among 392 nursing institutes, there are
15 general nurse midwife (GNM) institutes run by the state government,
while 161 are run by private players. The total seats in the GNM
institutes are 8,570.
For auxiliary nurse midwives courses,
there are 32 government institutes, in which total number of seats are
3,090. Besides, there are nursing institutes that offer courses in B Sc
nursing, post basic B Sc nursing and M Sc nursing.
